Fracture Mechanics SME

As Fracture Mechanics Subject Matter Expert (SME), a Senior Principal Pipeline Engineer and the Advance Analysis Team Lead at McDermott International, I apply my 23 years of mechanical engineering experience and expertise in Engineering Critical Assessment (ECA) of welded structures to design and deliver subsea pipeline solutions for complex offshore projects.

I have successfully led and managed ECA projects using 3D finite element analysis (FEA) for major clients such as Shell, BP, INPEX, Qatar Energy, NOC, Petrobras, and Chevron, ensuring the safety and integrity of the pipelines under various loading and environmental conditions. I have also contributed to the development and implementation of the Workmanship Equivalent ECA (WEECA) method, which provides a lower repair rate and a higher confidence level for the pipeline operators and installation contractors.

In addition to ECA, I have extensive knowledge and skills in lateral buckling, pipeline walking, on-bottom stability, free span, vortex-induced vibrations, fatigue and fracture mechanics of subsea pipelines for normal and sour service. I am proficient in using various FEA software such as ABAQUS, ANSYS, and MSC.Sofware, and I am well versed with the relevant industry standards such as DNV, BS7910, and ASME VIII.

My mission is to leverage my technical and leadership abilities to deliver innovative and cost-effective solutions for the subsea pipeline industry, while maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety. I am a registered member of the Institute of Engineers Malaysia and Engineers Australia, and I am working towards my Chartered Engineers status.
